About

I am a calm, compassionate and empathic practitioner. I am a parent (two teenage children 15, 18), partner, son, surfer, motorcyclist and a gym enthusiast. I am also a school counsellor and provide telehealth psychology services. I am a Zen student who meditates regularly and love exploring ancient wisdom in the modern world.

Prior to being a Counsellor / Psychologist (2016 - current), I was a high school music teacher (2004 - 2015) and enjoyed connecting with young people and their families in findings ways to make learning meaningful and life changing. I am from a performing arts background and keen to draw on the experiences and the knowledge I have gained in these areas to support and empower my clients.

therapeutic Style

I am passionate about co-creating a safe and authentic space and I also share some of my lived experiences to support our therapeutic relationship. Therapy is client-centred and has the capacity to change the therapist and the client together. At the heart of this transformation is shared vulnerability, spontaneity and authentic connection.

Special Interests

I warmly welcome clients of all ages, backgrounds and experiences. I have extensive experience working with clients in relation to anger management, relationship and/or family stress, trauma, chronic pain, mood disorders (anxiety, depression), workplace/school stress, ADHD/ASD, disabilities and communication difficulties.

Modality & Approach

Primary therapies relate to mindfulness-based approaches (i.e., non-judgmental awareness and exploration of thoughts and feelings) that include the practice of self-compassion and self-care. I am influenced by a wide range of approaches such as relational psychoanalysis, narrative therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behavioural therapy, internal family systems and acceptance commitment therapy (among others). I believe that mind-body connection, an awareness of our interconnectedness and the nature of life as change is essential to therapeutic and personal growth.
