Laurie also provides supervision of clinical staff as a Board-approved supervisor, nurturing the growth and professional development of aspiring psychologists.

MODALITIES AND APPROACH
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, which focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviours to improve emotional regulation and coping strategies.

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, combines cognitive-behavioural techniques with mindfulness practices to manage emotions, improve interpersonal skills, and increase distress tolerance.

  • Mindfulness based practices, that help to increase awareness of negative thought patterns and cultivate self-compassion. 

  • Schema Therapy, which draws from cognitive-behavioural, psychodynamic, and attachment theories, focusing on addressing deeply ingrained patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviours developed in childhood.

  • Stabilisation Based Therapy, which focuses on helping individuals with trauma-related disorders develop stabilization skills before engaging in more intensive trauma processing. It aims to increase emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and coping mechanisms to create a safer foundation for healing.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, rooted in mindfulness and acceptance-based strategies, helps individuals develop psychological flexibility by accepting difficult emotions and thoughts while committing to actions aligned with personal values.

  • Psycho-education approaches that aim to help people better understand and manage their conditions.

  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, focusing on finding solutions in the present and future through goal-setting and exploring exceptions to the problem.

To connect and share joy with loved ones – including my cheeky dog! I enjoy activities that allow me to be explore the ocean or the forest. All forms of creativity and dance also bring joy.

What makes you feel grounded?

Being in the raw beauty of nature connects me with my faith and helps me to be present in the moment putting things in perspective.  

What is one food you can’t live without?

Well, chocolate, of course!
